Dancing Under the Stars Poster

Professional

for the OSU Dance Clubs

Project type: Professional
My role: Graphic designer
Deliverables: Event poster

This poster was created to promote Dancing Under the Stars , a campus dance event hosted by Oregon State University dance clubs. The goal was to attract attention, communicate the theme of the event, and clearly present all essential details at a glance. The design balances expressive movement with structured layout, using imagery and typography that suggest dance while maintaining clarity and readability.

Visual hierarchy was a key focus, ensuring the event name, date, time, and location were easy to find and understand. This project emphasized clean composition, legible typography, and effective information design, supporting both visual appeal and practical communication for a campus audience.

Original Image — The original image that I used to create the design.

First Draft — My first shot at the layout was a little too busy. I enjoy the stacked type but it doesn't deliver the information cleanly enough.

Typography Redo — I redid the typography on the poster with clean delivery in mind, but while maintaining some visual appeal.

Background Redo — After updating the typography, I knew the background was no longer serving the poster. It was too busy, so I switched to a more color-block style.

More Visual Impact — After the layout was essentially done, I wanted to add some detail to highlight the text more. I wanted to keep the eye on the top of the page.
