This logo was created for Rankin Confections, a small, locally run confections brand. The client is my brother, which allowed for open communication and a clear understanding of his goals while still approaching the project with a structured, professional design process. The objective was to create a mark that felt handmade and approachable while maintaining a sense of class and personal identity.
The final logo is an initial-based mark incorporating a spoon motif to reference food and craft. The design emerged through multiple rounds of concept development and refinement, beginning with an initial set of ten concepts, narrowing to three refined directions with color exploration, and concluding with a selected mark and several final variations. The result is a versatile logo that reflects the client’s personality and works effectively across packaging and product applications.
Concepting Phase
Round 1: Concepts
The first concepts that I presented to the client. I asked which ones resonated with them and any adjustments they wanted on them.
Round 2: Refinement
After they chose the logo concepts they liked I fine-tuned them based on feedback. I also applied a color treatment.
Round 3: Type Treatment
After the client chose a final design, I used that design for a full lofo with type treatment and presented him with the final options.
